File tips
- Export a closed (watertight) mesh. Open or inside-out meshes can't be priced automatically, so we quote them by hand.
- STL files don't store units. We read them as millimeters. If the size looks wrong, switch to inches.
- 3MF files from Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, Fusion and most CAD programs keep their units. Every object on the build is priced.
- Largest part: 250 x 250 x 250 mm (9.8" cube). Bigger parts can often be split and joined. Ask us.

Design Concepts is a one-person fabrication shop in Plainfield, Illinois. Two Bambu Lab X1 Carbon printers run side by side, so small batches print fast. Pick up your parts free, by appointment, or have them shipped. We print parts for makers, shops and businesses in:

Questions
What materials can you 3D print?
PLA in black, white and gray, and flexible TPU 95A in black, white and clear, both with an instant price. Need another color, ABS, PETG-CF or PETG-GF? Pick Other material or Other color and we'll quote it by email. Parts can be up to 250 mm (9.8") in each direction.
How is the price figured?
By how much filament your part uses at our standard settings: $0.25 per gram in PLA and $0.45 per gram in TPU, plus a $10 setup charge per order. The minimum order is $25. Save 5% on 10 or more copies and 10% on 50 or more. We check every file in our slicer and confirm the price before invoicing.
What file do I need?
An STL or 3MF with a closed (watertight) mesh. STL files are read in millimeters, with a switch for inches. 3MF files from Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, Fusion and most CAD programs work, and every object on the build is priced.
How do I send you my file?
After you request your order, we email you to ask for the file. Reply to that email with your STL or 3MF attached.
How fast will my parts be ready?
Most orders ship in 3 business days. Very large prints can take a little longer, and we'll confirm the date on your invoice.
Can I pick up my parts in Plainfield?
Yes. Pickup at our Plainfield, IL shop is free, by appointment. We'll set a time when we email your invoice. Shipping is also available.
What areas do you serve?
We work with customers in Plainfield, Naperville, Lockport, Homer Glen, Lemont and Orland Park for local pickup, and ship parts to customers farther away.
Can you print in more than one color, or stronger or finer?
Yes, by quote. Multi-color prints, finer layers and more infill are priced by email. Tell us what you need in the notes when you request your order.
